Dr. Laila Abdel Wareth is a seasoned UAE physician executive with over 28 years of experience in pathology, laboratory medicine, and healthcare management. Board-certified in Medical Biochemistry and Clinical Pathology, she is a fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the College of American Pathologists.
Dr. Abdel Wareth’s career spans internationally, beginning at British Columbia Children’s & Women’s Hospital in Vancouver, where she excelled as Medical Biochemist in the Gene, Elements, and Metabolism Program. Upon returning to the UAE, she held key leadership positions at major healthcare institutions, including Mafraq Hospital, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), SEHA and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Recognized for her visionary leadership, Dr. Abdel Wareth has spearheaded numerous groundbreaking accreditations in Abu Dhabi and the UAE, including Joint Commission International (JCI), College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), ISO 15189, and ISO 22870.
Currently, she leads the Diagnostic Cluster at Global Patient Platform, M42, where she continues to drive innovation and quality in diagnostics. She also serves as President of the Emirates Clinical Chemistry Society, championing excellence in laboratory medicine across the region.
